Electric Water Heater Installation
Disconnect the power to your water heater. You should always make sure the water heater is not receiving any electricity after turning it off at the circuit breaker before working on it.
When the water is chilly, turn off the hot water faucet and leave it open. Cut off the cold water feed to the water heater. Attach a hose to the drain valve of the water heater. To drain the tank outside, open the valve.
The electrical wires on the water heater’s top should be disconnected. Make sure you first close the circuit breaker in the breaker box. Next, use a voltage tester to check the wires before you begin.
Connect the supply lines for the hot and cold water. You might need to cut the copper pipes if your water heater is plumbed with them. Use a tubing (pipe) cutter if necessary to cut the pipes, but try to leave as much of the pipe as you can.
#5 Connect the electrical wiring
To access the electrical lines, remove the junction box cover. Fasten the ground screw and fasten the ground wire. Using wire connectors, twist the additional wires together. Connect the wires in the same manner as you disconnected them, using the previous wire connections as a guide.
Connect the supply lines for hot and cold water. Make sure the cold water pipe is attached to the water heater’s cold water input. We strongly advise making the connections with flexible hoses. Turning on the hot water tap at the closest faucet will allow you to check for leaks in the flexible hose connections.
